El Rastro is not a souvenir market: it's a whole neighbourhood that has been at work for centuries. Every Sunday, more than a thousand stallholders set up their stalls between the Plaza de Cascorro and the Ronda de Toledo. Walk slowly along the Ribera de Curtidores, the street of paintings and the square of books, and finish in the Plaza de Cascorro, home to a tavern from 1942.
